Nick Evans

After 10 years working in the music industry in London, Nick discovered he had a rare form of Cancer and underwent extensive treatment during 1999.

In pursuit of deeper healing he spent much of the next fifteen years practicing daily and studying with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his family at the the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, South India. From 2003 to 2006 Nick lived in Mysore and studied Vedic Chanting and ritual with Prof. M.V. Varadarajan.

In 2004 Nick was Authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois . Since then he has taught traditional Mysore style ashtanga for extended periods in Brighton, Barcelona, Lisbon, Connecticut, San Francisco, Antwerpen, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Oviedo and Eindhoven.

Nick has had several articles published in Namarupa magazine, including an interview with Pattabhi Jois’s daughter Saraswathi. This article was included in the book “Guruji” a portrait of Sri K.Pattabhi Jois through the eyes of his students by Guy Donahaye and Eddie Stern. Nick was interviewed for this seminal ashtanga yoga text also and shared his experience of the transformative healing capacity of the practice.

Nick has attended two teacher training courses at KPJAYI with Sharath Jois and In 2010 Nick was given Level 2 Authorisation by the Institute. He also has some experience in Vedic chanting and ritual, and studied Pranayama with Pattabhi Jois. He is currently studying advanced A with his Guru Sharath Jois at KPJAYI / SYC where he continues to study as often as he can.


Katia Garcia Gomez

Katia Garcia Gomez began practising Ashtanga Yoga in 1999 with Certified teacher Tomas Zorzo.
In 2001 she made the first of eleven annual trips to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his grandson R. Sharath Jois at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute/ KPJAYI, where she continues to study when possible.
In 2006 she was authorised by the Institute to teach the method.

From 1999 to 2006 she was the director of LÁbadia old people´s residency in Oviedo, having full responsibility for the efficient running of the home whilst at the same time being with those in the final years, months and moments of their lives, the depth of compassion this required remain present in her Yoga classes today.

From 2005 until 2011 Katia taught daily Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga at her own school, Ashtanga Yoga Sadhana in Oviedo Asturias.

In 2014 Katia attended Sharath Jois’ training at KPJAYI. Since Nick and Katia’s son Morgan was born in 2011 she has taught Mysore style classes in Greenwich Connecticut, Antwerp, Lisbon, San Francisco, Bali, Thailand, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Eindhoven. Katia is deeply committed to sharing the method she has used to transform and heal her own life. An interview with Katia was included in Sharmila Desai and Anna Wise’ book “Yoga Sadhana for Mothers”. She has direct experience practising while pregnant and loves to teach expecting mothers and new mums too.
